Emily Levy

Emily Levy is a British singer and composer with musical influences that range from medieval to classical, folk to jazz.  She works closely with the voice and sound design and is particularly interested in blurring boundaries between both stylistic genres and electro acoustic writing.

Recent Commissions: ‘The Rain is Coming’ a song cycle for Baritone Roderick Williams supported by PRSF, ACE, Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust and Sound and Music; Composer for Mary Beard’s ‘Amo Amas Amusical’, BBC R4; Presenter and composer for ‘A Mix Tape for Gus’, BBC R4.  Other ensemble work includes: ‘In Paradisum’ for Marian Consort, ‘How Sweetly You Burn’ for Voice Trio, ‘Zoetroping’ for Thallein Ensemble, BOZAR Brussels, ‘Stuck Record’ for Project Instrumental. 

In 2018 Emily completed MMus Composition (Distinction) at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where she studied with Ed Bennett, Joe Cutler, Howard Skempton and Errollyn Wallen.  She is currently Composer in Residence with Streetwise Opera, 2018-19.
